The job of the interim athletic director at New Milford High School, Lance Pliego, is hanging in limbo.

No decision has been made to date by the Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools JeanAnn Paddyfote as to who the permanent, full-time athletic director will be for the 2012-13 school year.

"Mr. Pliego is remaining on as interim athletic director until a decision is made," Dr. Paddyfote said Monday. "A special Board of Education meeting may be held July 10.

"If I can get the advisory committee in place, I can hopefully make an appointment then."

Mr. Pliego, a former New Milford High School athletic director, returned to the school district Dec. 1, 2011, to serve as interim athletic director at the high school through the end of the 2011-12 school year.

The position was left vacant in September by the sudden departure of Ted Oczkowski, who had served four years as NMHS AD.

From Mr. Oczkowski's exit until Dec. 1, physical education teacher Keith Lipinsky had served as the substitute AD.
