Elmer E. Johnson, 86, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Brookfield and Danbury, died Nov. 11, 2009. He was the husband of Patricia Johnson for 28 years.

Mr. Johnson was born March 25, 1923, in New York, to the late Leonard and Gertrude (Gore) Johnson.

After serving in the Merchant Marines in World War II, he became a carpenter and contractor in the Danbury area.

Mr. Johnson is survived by two sons, Alan Johnson, of New Tripoli, Pa., and Terry Johnson, of New Milford; two daughters, Sally (Dzamko) Smith, of Millersburg, Pa., and Gail Tobin, of Ridgefield; four grandchildren, Amber, Joshua, Stephen and Dana; two great-grandchildren, Laura and Aaron; and a sister, Lois Rathbone, of Willow Street, Pa., and her family. He was predeceased by his ex-wife, Janice (Cornell) Johnson.
