The town of Washington will hold its annual Holiday in the Depot event next Friday, Dec. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.

There would be no rain or snow date.

Festivities will be highlighted at 6 p.m. by the lighting of the Christmas tree at Bryan Memorial Town Hall.

Santa Claus will arrive shortly after the tree lighting and will meet and have his photograph taken with children at town hall.

Letters to Santa may be mailed at town hall.

Other offerings will include children's crafts, the singing of carols by the Washington Children's Choir, horse-drawn carriage rides, music by students from local schools and activities with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Tail Waggers 4-H.

Donations of items to be sent to troops for the holiday will also be collected. For a list of items, call Barbara Johnson at 860-868-0398.

Seniors will sell an assortment of holiday gift items at the nearby senior center.

Many businesses will be open late that evening.

The event is co-sponsored by the Washington Business Association, Inc., Washington Parks & Recreation and the town of Washington.
