Everyone can use a little healing.
Whether the pain, discomfort or ailment is physical or emotional, Michelle Masciarelli, of Monarch Therapies in New Milford, may provide relief.
Masciarelli, who is celebrating her fifth year in business, offers Body Talk, Reiki, Shamanic healing and Emotional Freedom Technique to people of all ages at her home studio.
"It's amazing to be able to help someone," Masciarelli said in a phone interview. "It's very humbling."
Masciarelli discovered these modalities for personal reasons and found such relief, she decided to become trained and certified in them so she could reach out to others and provide customized treatment.
"It's definitely my calling," she said.
Masciarelli does not rule out traditional medicine.
"I'm a total believer in traditional medicine," she said, "and I love how alternative medicine complements it."
Body Talk is a non-invasive modality which involves using a form of kinesiology (muscle testing) to determine what needs improved communication, followed by simple techniques that work with the patient's brain and heart energy complex.
"The beauty of Body Talk is it allows us to uncover whatever inbalances the body is ready to uncover," Masciarelli said.
Each one-hour session is tailored to the client's needs, with often a mix of modalities.
Resident Bernadette Linero sought Masciarelli's expertise when discovering she had cancer while pregnant, and was unable to have treatment at that time.
"It was fantastic,"
Linero said of Body Talk. "I always left feeling calm and peaceful."
She continued seeing Masciarelli after she gave birth and had received chemotherapy because "you need to have a positive attitude."
Shamanic healing is a method by which the practitioner "journeys" using a form of meditation to obtain "information that's beneficial to the client's healing," Masciarelli explained about the ancient form of healing.
After the experience, patients may be surprised to learn what Masciarelli discovered during the process.
Another modality that provides relief is EFT, a form of physiological acupressure that makes use of light tapping on the body.
"We can identify negative or unwanted feelings you've been struggling with, or fears or phobias ... and instead of storing them, you can release them" using positive verbal affirmations," Masciarelli said.
"(Michelle) is so sweet, caring, and understanding, and always relaxed me during the most stressful times," said Lucia Promotico, of Torrington. "She gave me hope."
