Our mission

To develop, encourage, promote and protect the commercial, industrial, professional and general business interests of the community; and to promote the civic interests and general welfare of the town of New Milford and its trade area.

What is the Chamber of Commerce?

The Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce (GNMCC) is an organization that exists so area businesspeople can network, share information and ideas, and collaborate on issues affecting the business community and general well being of our community.

Through our monthly activities and events, area business people are afforded the opportunity to come together in both business and social settings.

However, business growth is not the sole purpose of the Chamber.

The GNMCC is a catalyst for positive and progressive growth and continuous improvement in the lifestyles of the people in our hometowns.

We are a marketer of the communities we serve by sponsoring such events as the Village Fair Days, the New Milford fireworks celebration, the Harvest Festival, the Festival of Lights/tree lighting ceremony and the Hands-On Train Display.

The Chamber is also home to the Tourist Information Center for the town of New Milford.

Our membership consists of individuals from all facets of the community, including retailers, manufacturers, service organizations and professionals.

Benefits of Chamber membership

There are many benefits to being a member of the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce: advertising and marketing opportunities on the Chamber website, in the Business Quarterly, on Shop New Milford and in the Chamber office, and networking opportunities at the monthly Business Scenes.

Other benefits include Breakfast Networking Scenes, Speed Networking events, educational and informational seminars through the Lunch & Learn series, business referrals through which the Chamber actively promotes the value of purchasing products and services locally, and the Chamber Seal of Approval, which enhances your company's image.

Your affiliation with the Chamber reflects your company or organization's integrity and commitment to the community.

The "Chamber Member" decal on your door or window reflects to the public your company's quality, validity and professionalism.

Be involved

Every year the Chamber organizes a number of events to enhance the community as a whole and provide ways in which you can be involved.

In addition to organizing events, the Chamber supports a host of community organizations through monetary donations.

Recipients of donations from the Chamber have included New Milford Ambulance, the Water Witch Hose Company No. 2 fire company, New Milford Hospital, TRIAD, New Milford youth baseball/softball, New Milford Parks & Recreation's creative playground and the senior swim program, the Run Santa Run road race, United Way, the Alzheimer's Association, the American Red Cross, the DECA program at New Milford High School, the Community Culinary School of Northwestern Connecticut, Special Olympics, the Lilla Fund, Wreaths for Veterans and the Chamber's annual scholarship awards to graduating seniors presented every year at Village Fair Days.

As a Chamber member, you and your membership dues are helping these and other organizations in our community.

The perfect time

No community -- or business -- ever stands still; you either proceed or recede.

Other communities are active now -- competing for trade territory, industries, new businesses, better highways, more housing and everything else that would make them a better, more prosperous and more pleasant place in which to live.

Now is the perfect time to join and support the Chamber of Commerce. More industries, more residents, more tourists and more people shopping in our community will mean more business for you and a stronger community for all of us.

It's time to join the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce.

Call, email or come see me at the railroad station.

If you are already a Chamber member, it's time to participate.

A vibrant, healthy, active Chamber of Commerce is made up of vibrant, healthy and active members.

You will quickly discover the GNMCC is a dynamic organization of enthusiastic individuals who are committed to promoting the community and local business.

Being a Chamber member underscores your company's professionalism and integrity, and shows the public you share the Chamber's belief in the importance of fairness and trustworthiness in all business and community dealings.

Happy holidays!

May 2013 be a safe, healthy and happy year for you, your family and friends and our community.

Denise Del Mastro is executive director of the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce.
